Tuesday 18th May 2021 19:00Annual Church Meeting in Church (click here for details)What is an APCM? It is the meeting each year where we do some important legal business (approving accounts and electing PCC members and churchwardens) as well as looking back with thankfulness for all God has done and looking forward with faith to what the future holds. We report on the activities of the past year and also look to the year ahead. Who can vote? What is the 'electoral roll'? Those on the 'electoral roll' of St Leonard's can vote in elections of people to the PCC. We encourage everyone who feels that they belong to our church family to be on the electoral roll. If you have begun worshipping at Leonard's in the last two years you may not yet be on this roll. Please contact our churchwarden, Brigitte Hilton (07875 829241), if that applies to you. For churchwarden elections anyone living in the geographical parish of Glapthorn can vote, even if they are not on the electoral roll. Will the Meeting be in-person? The meeting cannot be held via Zoom etc so will be in-person in church, complying with the same “Covid rules” as our Sunday services. What is the PCC? Who can join? Can I? The PCC is the "Parochial Church Council". It is a body of people elected by the Church family to give prayerful leadership, alongside the Vicar and churchwardens, discerning vision and direction for St Leonard's. The PCC meets about 6 times a year. Recently we have been meeting by Zoom. PCC members are elected for 3 years and we have some vacancies. If you think God may be nudging you to be part of this vital body, helping discern the future for Leonard's after Covid, then we'd love to hear from you: please contact Brigitte. What is a churchwarden? The post of churchwarden is a very ancient one in English law (dating back to at least the fourteenth century). Churchwardens are elected each year and usually serve for between 3 and 6 years. They have responsibilities set out in law and work closely with the Vicar and Associate Vicar in leading the Church. We currently have only one churchwarden: Brigitte Hilton. So there is a vacancy. If you want to find out more about the role of warden, what it involves and whether it might be something for you, then do speak to the Vicar, Stephen Webster (01832 275675), or to Brigitte.
